Some weddings nearly don't happen. Not because a couple fall out of love, because simply put, one of them may not be alive. This is what happened to John and Jo. In the middle of the festive season their lives were changed forever when John was hit by a car. He was placed in an induced coma with serious head injuries. His recovery journey is hard to even find words for, such was it's intensity. During his recovery the family were also dealing with Johns mother, Cheryl's declining health from Cancer. To say they've had some hard years is an understatement.
But the wedding DID happen. It may have taken longer than first thought, but with their two adorable children by their side, John and Jo were married, and it was beautiful. It made you stop and take a deep breath, to feel joy for moments that do get to be, but at the same time also breathing deeply for those that wont. Grief and living often go hand in hand. Celebrating the good bits reminds us to keep looking forward.
I know Jo will hate me writing this as she is so humble, but I have to say it. Jo is one of the strongest, loyal, generous and loving women you will meet. Her heart is so so big. It takes a lot of love and resilience as a couple to get to where they are today and it made me so happy being able to capture this momentous day.
Their path ahead will still remain forever changed by the accident, but they are together, and together they will cherish every moment.
