Wholesome. From the places, people, words, decorations and of course the love, everything about this day felt nourishing.
When I first met up with Matilda (Tilly) and Troy it was clear that their values on sustainability, nature and kinship were going to shape their Wedding day. What I didn't expect was to find out on the Wedding day that Troy had tenderly grown the flowers Tilly wore in her hair and together they had grown a variety of vegetables and herbs so that each dish served on the evening contained at least one ingredient from their Garden. Like I said, wholesome.
Tilly's exquisite dress was her Mothers 45 year old Wedding Dress which her mother first bought in an Op shop when she was 15 years old. The dress was lovingly altered by CJ Dakis from Limerence Boutique. Honestly, I don't think Tilly could have found a more beautiful dress, and I am sure her mother could never have imagined she would one day be placing that dress on her daughter when she first pulled it off the clothes rack.
Tilly and Troy were married down a private path in RJ Hamer Aboretum in Olinda. I am indebted to Tilly and Troy for making me discover this place, it is nothing short of incredible with over 150 species of native and exotic trees in plantations giving you a multitude of different environments to explore. The trees became their archway, the breeze and birds their soundtrack and the walls their family and friends.
The spectacular setting for the Reception was held at Five Oaks Winery in Seville with the impressive and open air Tee Pee's provided by Tipikata. The wine and food flowed throughout the evening to a backdrop of music provided by friends. Children & Adults wandered among the border the grape vines whilst games of Bocce & Croquet were played in the setting sun. Not one moment felt rushed with the whole day flowing. The evening came to an end after a series of heartfelt speeches as one would expect with kinship so strong....and of course some dancing!
Over the years many people will continue to walk on the track admiring the trees, but for Tilly and Troy it will be their track, the place they made their own when they became Husband and Wife. And although the hay bales are gone and not a sign remains of the event happening there, nature returns and love continues on it's path.
Claire's hair colour by Sophie and cut by Joey at Foxy Salon. Tilly's minimalist make was up by her friend. Shoes from Rainbow Dream Factory. Boquet flowers from FloraMax Wholesalers in Silvan. Bridesmaids dresses were sourced from various boutiques from Belgrave to Richmond and even Tasmania!
