Scott and Kelly's love was infectious and genuine. They were so at home in each others company and freely expressive of who they are to all around. Nothing hidden, nothing filtered, just them….and it was beautiful.
Scott and Kelly's wedding was the smallest I have been a part of, so small I was even mentioned during the Ceremony as being present! Scott and Kelly have family and friends scattered all over the globe and the idea of trying to get everyone in one location seemed too much of an ask. Instead they had an intimate Ceremony in their backyard with just Scott's Parents and Kelly's sister present...with the Celebrant Jo and myself as shoe in guests!
There was tradition, there was appreciation, their was a focus. Both their New Zealand and Scottish heritage were included finishing with Kelly being draped in the Lindsay family tartan, once Scott could get the pin on :) Afterwards Scott's father Rab shared the story of how he had made the stole (with a little help from his mother) he gave his wife Francis. Ironically he made it from her work uniform which just happened to be the Lindsay tartan colours. Kelly didn't lose her work uniform but gained a future heirloom all the same.
After some shots of honey Bourbon and some scrumptious cheesecake we headed off for a drive around town. As we explored the messages started floating in from overseas after the humorous selfie was posted to Snapchat (spot the pic). Scott and Kelly are both Physiotherapists and I have Scott to credit with keeping my neck and back functioning with all that camera gear. Kelly however also has a hidden talent. She is an Author and has released three young adult science fiction novels. It seemed only fitting then to explore the rooms of lost words at the Newspaper.
Being part of Scott and Kelly's day with their family was incredible and full of many laughs. I now have a taste for Honey Bourbon, are set to join in a game of 'gecko' and will struggle to pat my black rabbit without images of sporrans! Above all though I left with such a feeling of warmth that these two are together.
