Waking up at dawn for a road trip is a pretty good way to start a Wedding. With the tunes turned up I drove further into Gippsland through golden light then mist so thick it felt like the car was stationary in clouds. Arriving at Coonawarra Farm in Glenaladale I immediately nodded to myself, seeing exactly why Megan and Matt had chosen to get married here. It was like a little old school oasis away from everything.
Megan used to come for family holidays at Coonawara Farm where as children they would run wild outside only to return for meals when the giant triangle was rung (the same 'come and get it' triangle is still there). It was a place that already held memories and it would now become the place where two families would join as one. The school camp set up of the Farm immediately gave you a sense of fun, comradeship and winding down. Guests gradually arrived from their own road trips to find their allocated bunk rooms whilst Matt was 'busy' getting ready down the bottom of the hill whilst Meg was up the top doing her thing.
Megan and Matt were married under the giant Gum Tree outside in the afternoon sun in front of family and friends. The event was beautifully styled by Etc. Event styling from Bairnsdale with friends taking various roles on throughout the day to help.
I think this was the first Wedding where I got a stitch from laughing so much with the Bridal party photographs, so much playful posing! But I guess that comes naturally when you are among friends who have known each other most of their lives. And not simply known each other but loved each other like family. So just like a bunch of rowdy school kids away feeling free on school camp the wedding rang with laughter, exuberant dance moves, 'fell out the back of a truck' fireworks, late night conversations, and of course the ringing of a new stage of romance.
Megan and Matt know they are lucky, are so excited for their future and I know have so much happiness coming their way. xo
Megan and Bridal Party were prepared by sister duo Jana Bennet (make-up) and Taya Bennet (hair) from Bell of the Ball. Dress from Ferrai Bridal wear with great help from Naomi Katta who helped re-deisgn the dress with final modifications to perfection by Rosanna Ford. Groom and Groomsmen dressed by Ferrai Bridal wear.
