I had always wanted to go to Hanging Rock in the Macedon Ranges, so when Greg contacted me about photographing his upcoming Wedding to the lovely Sarani I was a bit excited. Greg and Sarani were looking for something different and wanted to hold their Ceremony in a place that held some importance to them. Hanging Rock was a favorite location of theirs to visit together with their cheeky dog Pax. For me, my vision of Hanging Rock were cemented in imagery from the classic Australian movie ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ directed by Peter Weir, telling the tale of school girls going missing on St. Valentines Day in the early 1900′s when picnicking at the Rock. Luckily neither Greg or Sarani had seen the movie, instead making their own connection to the place free from mystery disappearances!
Skyscraper high gums, ghostly rock formations, and of course that mysterious lingering feeling of lost souls (to me) set the scene for a lovely Ceremony at ‘The Saddle’, almost at the Summit. I have to say I was impressed by the efforts of guests and the beautiful Bride walking to the spot! An intimate Reception followed back at The Victoria Hotel in nearby Woodend where family and close friends continued celebrations. I was welcomed as a guest and loved being able to meet family & friends and celebrate the life Greg & Sarani have already built together.
A heartfelt thanks to Greg & Sarani for having me as your Photographer and to Pax for ‘smiling’ for the camera. A big thanks also to Celebrant Julia for being so helpful when the Grooms car broke down and elderly guests had to walk further than they anticipated.
