I had one of those experiences recently where you feel stillness around you and you are present with only the most inner and honest thoughts. Those moments where you feel clarity in what you are feeling, strength in what you believe in and energised to act on the things you are letting the chaos of life push aside. Sounds big doesnt’ it? Well it kind of was, minus any dramatic music soundscapes.
I attended ‘The be nice & take nice photographs’ workshop hosted by the enigmatic and kind hearted Lakshal Perera and his equally charming and intelligent wife Kristen Proud. Together in an old warehouse in Kensington, I along with a group of like minded souls spent a weekend talking, experiencing and sharing ideas around how one can be a nice person and contribute nice photographs to the world. We were fed delicious home made food from Ben who also provided invaluable insight. The weekend was full of honesty, comradeship, and inspiring ideas on how to work ethically and run a successful business guided by your own values. And of course, how to be genuinely ‘nice’ and make being photographed an enjoyable moment for all involved.
The weekend confirmed that I am happy for everything that makes me who I am to influence my photography and that I believe my dream of combining my Photography with social causes is possible.
Anyway, enough enlightenment talking and time for some photos. We were all super lucky to have Mel and Alex grace us as models and give us all an opportunity to capture the beautiful and sincere connection they have. Mel and Alex are getting married in December at a local Winery I can vouch, has a delicious Sangiovese. I thought I would share a few of my paparrazi shots as Mel and Alex were just so lovely and handled being followed by 15 photographers with ease. Big thanks again to everyone who made the weekend so special.
