lly was the second ‘Doherty’ sister I’ve had the privilege of photographing, with one more sisters upcoming Wedding I could not be more grateful. These Doherty gals are a special bunch, they love and nurture all around them with a splash of fun and positivism in all they do. Today I shared the pleasure with Casey Longfield of Treehouse Photography who helped me out as Second shooter. Not only is she a talented lass she is extra supportive to have around when your main camera dies. But not even broken cameras could dampen this day.
I have to mention this was the first Wedding I have shot where the Bride and Groom see each other before the Ceremony and I think it is a great idea. The moment Ally and Spencer first saw each other dressed for their Wedding Day was shared only with immediate family, they could savor it with no interruptions. They had more time together all day long, it all seemed so calm and enjoyable. Nothing felt rushed, it was a lot of fun wandering around with a group of amazing people before the big celebrations had even started. Exploring the bush surrounds came with some apprehension of ‘snakes’ soon allayed by me on the ground taking photos.
During all this time Spencer’s eyes barely left Ally. The love, dedication and admiration they share for each other is evident in everything they do. Moving to a new Country the other side of the world would not be an easy decision. When the heartfelt video made by Canadian friends who couldn’t make the trip was presented during the Best Man’s speech it was evident there will always be distance between some friendships, and with that comes some pain. But sometimes life’s greatest moments come from our greatest risks, from following our hearts and giving in to the unknown. Spencer and Ally have embraced that and I believe will be incredibly happy.
The wedding was held at Yarra Ranges Estate, a stunning and unsuspecting marvel at the end of a narrow and long dirt road in Monbulk. Friends and family from opposite sides of the globe gathered in the strong sun to witness Nathan formalise Ally and Spencer into Mr and Mrs Nebel. So many beautiful words were spoken throughout the Ceremony and Reception, I can’t possibly capture everything that is Ally and Spencer here!
Ally’s dress was designed by Allure Bridal and was sourced from her sisters best friend who has known her since childhood. The studly braces and bow ties were also from Ferrai Formal and Bridal Wear in Narre Warren. Jewelry was from Prouds, Hair by Sharda Hair, Make up by Jana Bennett from Belle of the Ball, Flowers by Helen at Darling Buds, Cake by Debbie at Refined Cakes and decorations made by the Bride and Groom…and it sure all came together just beautifully!
Before you see the day through photos I have to lastly mention the youngest and most adorable guest of the day, Abigail. She was just under four weeks old when she flew over here with her Mum and Dad (Spencer’s Brother) so technically by the time she flew home to Canada she would have spent more time on Australian soil than her home of Canada. What a little trooper!
